The Form 14 Assistant Walk-Through

Take a tour of The Form 14 Assistant, and see how easy it is to automate drafting your Form 14s. And, this software isn't just for Form 14s..... The Form 14 Assistant also automates drafting support arrearage interest calculation affidavits. To try drafting an interest affidavit yourself, you can request a FREE trial copy of The Form 14 Assistant using the link at the bottom of this browser window. Now, let's take a tour!

To create a Form 14 with The Form 14 Assistant, you start with the Case Information Window. This window contains all the basic information about your case, logically grouped into three areas: caption, parties, and attorney. You simply enter the appropriate information into each area, and then you're ready to create a Form 14! Even after you've created your Form 14, you can come back to the Case Information Window at any time to update or correct your case information.

 Case Information Window Tab 1

Here is the Case Caption tab of the Case Information Window.

After entering your caption information, you're ready to enter the information about the parties to the case and their children. Here's the panel you use to do it.

Case Information Window Tab 2

You can easily add from one to six children. And with the "Split Custody" option on the Form 14, you can optionally award custody of any or all of the children to either the Petitioner or the Respondent, with just a few mouse clicks!

Finally, you enter information about the attorney responsible for this Form 14. The Form 14 Assistant helps you by maintaining a list of all the attorneys in your firm, and their bar numbers. Here's the panel where you enter attorney information.

 Case Information Window Tab 3

Now, you're ready to create a new Form 14 by clicking the "Create Form 14" button! You can see this button at the bottom of the window in the picture above. When you click it, you'll get a new Form 14, which will contain the caption information you entered in the Case Information Window. It will look like this:

Now, all you have to do is fill in the blanks to create your Form 14! A couple of things to notice: the tabs on the right side of the form (labeled "Custody to Petitioner" and "Custody to Respondent") let you instantly see your Form 14's numbers from the perspective of the Petitioner getting custody, or the Respondent getting custody. The "Split Custody" buttons let you create split custody arrangements with just a few mouse clicks. The directions for each and every line of the Form 14 are shown as you edit your form. And finally, the "Clone" button (it's in the toolbar at the bottom of the window) lets you duplicate the entire Form 14 Window, numbers and all, into a new window which is completely independent of the original window. You can edit up to eight Form 14 Windows at a time for the same case! And remember, even after you've created your Form 14, you can go back to the Case Information Window at any time to update or correct your case information.
Entering numbers into your Form 14 is a snap. Every field is designed to make your job easy. Here's the box into which you enter income information.

Once you've entered all the numbers for your form, just click the "Print" button and you're ready to sign and file your Form 14. Or, use the "clone" button to create multiple Form 14s at the same time to easily see what scenario would be most advantageous to your client.  You can edit up to eight Form 14s simultaneously!  No other Form 14 software can do that.

Once you've created your Form 14, use the Available Funds Analysis Window to determine the amount and percentage of net funds available to each party after payment and receipt of child support and maintenance.  It's not just a guess -- The Form 14 Assistant does a real tax calculation to ensure an accurate and realistic analysis.  Here's the Available Funds Analysis Window:

More importantly, it will make you more efficient and allow you to bill more hours.

Once you've tried The Form 14 Assistant, you'll wonder how you ever worked without it!
